The Autumn league got underway at Woodstock Golf Club with a scramble which was won by Dermot Melody, Rory Callinan, Justin Gleeson and Mike Cronin with 56.2 nett from Paddy Meehan.

Dickie Pyne, Brian Kilker and Eugene Conroy were second with 56.3 nett. In third place with 56.5 nett were Colm Mullen, Fiona Landy, Brian Mulcahy and Mary Sweeney followed by Colm O’Callaghan, John Brennan, Jonathan O’Loughlin and Jack Darmody with 56.6 nett.

The league continues this week when the format will be fourball betterball. For those not participating in the league, there will be a club fourball competition.

Pat Keane (10) won the weekend’s club singles at Woodstock with 40 points from Tom O’Donoghue (15) who also scored 40 points.

Kilrush Golf Club:

The men’s Winter weekly singles at Kilrush last week was won by Noel Thornton (12) with 27 points. The October Bank holiday mixed scramble was won by John Stapleton, Mary G Nolan and Tom O’Dea with 33.3 from Tom Coffey, Marie Bartlett, Brendan Carrig and John K Ryan with 33.7. In third spot with 34.9 were Tom Fox.  Claire Pyne, Pat Mulcahy and  Mary Bolton.

Ennis Golf Club:

Geraldine O’Mahony (13) won the ladies 9 hole stableford competition at Ennis with 18 points from Rose Enright (13) who had a similar score. Anne Kelly (14) was third with 17 points.

Last week’s senior ladies competition was won by Bridie Hanrahan, Maureen Maloney and Margaret Flanagan with 39 points from Mary McMahon, Alice D’Arcy and Ann Daly with 36. In third spot with 35 points were Mary Woulfe, Brid Cunningham and Margaret McEnery.

Dromoland Golf Club:

Dylan Brown is the open singles grand final winner at Dromoland. He scored 41 points in the final round to secure the title.

Last weekend’s 18 hole singles stableford competition was won by John O’Dwyer with 44 points and he had two to spare over Diarmuid O’Connor with Conor Barry a point further back in third spot followed by David O’Brien with 40 points Seamus Cusack won the gross with 39 points.

Cora O’Toole won the ladies 9 hole turkey/wine/chocolate competition with 20 points from Joan Ryan who had a similar score. Niamh McDermott was third with 19 points followed by Marie Meaney, also with 19 points.

Portumna Golf Club:

Loretto O’Grady (25) won the weekly ladies competition at Portumna with 34 points.

A rules night for the ladies at Portumna has been arranged for this Thursday, November 4 at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse. It will be given by the club’s PGA Pro, Shane Franklin. The meeting will take place in line with Covid protocols, Covid certificates will be required and masks must be worn for the duration of the meeting.

Haven Arms society

The Castle course in Lahinch was the venue for an outing for members of the Haven Arms society in Kilrush last weekend when the winner, with 36 points, was Denis F. Nagle. In second place with 33 points was Brian Scanlan with Martin McNamara in third spot with 32 points.
