The community of Kilkee have been taking the lead in the reduction of plastic pollution in costal areas and on a global level its of massive importance with experts predicting that by 2050 plastic will outweigh fish in our ocean. Each person can make a difference and coastal communities are now proposing that by simply picking up 3 pieces of plastic during a visit to the beach, together we can make a difference. It’s the perfect excuse for a walk on the beach to clear the head and make a difference along the way.

The Clare crusaders rely solely on donations to operate their clinic in barefield, and must raise over €250,000 a year to do so. The clinic was founded by a great bunch of local people with Howard Flannery at the helm. The original foundation of the running a marathon is still at the core of what they do and while they have just completed the Dublin marathon, its soon time to start thinking about next year. Why not make it a new years resolution to join them in their crusade to promote health through exercise while raising awareness and funds for the clinic as you go. You don’t need to wait till Dublin next year they participate now in runs nationally and around the world
