Clare’s handballers are the U14/15 All-Ireland champions.

Clare defeated Wexford and Roscommon in the team All-Ireland handball finals in Croke Park over the weekend.

Clare had a strong win over Wexford in the opening games winning the games by 5 to 1 with a 29 point ace advantage. Wexford defeated Roscommon also by 5 games to 1 with a 41 Ace difference. Clare played Roscommon in the last of the games and continued their winning ways with a 5 to 1 games and 30 point Ace difference. Clare were then comprehensive winners with 54 aces to spare over Roscommon in second place.

The Clare team comprised Charlie Collins, Conor Littleton, Sean Daly, Darragh Casey, Cillian Cummins, Colm Whelan, Lochlainn Collins and Sean McGee. Their mentors were Kevin O’Brien and Angela Floyd

Irish Collegiate Championships:

Sean Coughlan (Clooney/Quin) and Rory Grace of Lahorna Tipperary were crowned Men’s open champions in the Irish Collegiate doubles finals at the weekend.

Games were played throughout Friday and Saturday in Croke Park, Trinity and DCU. The Men’s Open is the highest grade and the pair who were in fine form after winning in the Worlds One Wall secured the top seed after winning group games on Friday.

In the quarter finals they defeated Cormac Finn and Mikey Kirwan of DCU, before accounting for Josh Kavanagh and Keith Armstrong, Maynooth in semi-final and Cian O’Driscoll and Fiachra O’Duill (DKIT) in the final.

Clare also had Cathal McKenna with Conor Horan in the men’s Open. David Considine and Mici Sheedy in men’s A and Ellen Collins with Finna Close in Ladies A in action over the weekend. Students from UL, LIT and Mary I all play under the UL Wolves handball banner. The next action for Irish Collegiate games will be One Wall in Kerry from November 29th to December 1st. Irish singles will be played from Jan 31st to Feb 2nd in Belfast.

The US Collegiates will take place on February 19-23 in Portland USA while the Irish 60×30 competition will be in Sligo from April 18th to 20th.
