Parking spaces are to be reserved adjacent to the post office in Kildysart for senior citizens.

Once An Post give the thumbs up, Clare County Council are to delineate age friendly parking spaces on the main street of Kildysart adjacent to the post office.

It follows a proposal from Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) before the September meeting of the West Clare Municipal District which appealed for some parking spaces to be reserved for senior citizens.

Senior executive engineer, Alan Kennelly confirmed spaces would be allocated for age friendly parking once An Post was “agreeable” to the motion.

This “very welcome development” has been widely praised in Kildysart, Cllr Kelly commented. “Senior citizens are entitled to get a break,” he remarked.

Earlier this month, Kildysart’s post office welcomed customers of Bank of Ireland who are now able to lodge cash, cheques and coin as well as withdrawing money.
