Works to improve accessibility access are to be carried out at William Smith O’Brien Public Library in Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Cllr Pat McMahon (FF) had highlighted to Clare County Council the need to upgrade the entrance to the public library.
Staff including County Librarian Helen Walsh recently visited the library and acknowledged that the gradient on the ramp “appears quite steep”, has no support railings and is in need of an amendment.
A measurement of the steps noted that there is inconsistency in reach between the lower step and others.
Further investigations are to be completed by local authority staff with the County Librarian keen for works to commence as soon as is practically possible.
